THE NETHERLANDS SUPPORTS FOR VICTIMS OF THE FLOODING IN VIETNAM

It has been announced Thursday 28 September 2000 that the Netherlands will provide USD 200,000 (500.000 Dutch guilders) in emergency aid to the victims of the serious flooding in Vietnam. This in addition to the USD 38.000 that had already been donated before.
The donation of the Netherlands Government will be channeled through the International Federation of the Red Cross in The Netherlands and will constitute a contribution to the programme of the local Red Cross in Vietnam for the victims of the flooding.
Within the last years the Netherlands government has donated approximately USD 790,000 to releave the suffering of victims of various natural disasters in Vietnam, including the flooding in Central Vietnam in 1999, a tropical storm in Quang Binh, typhoon Franky, typhoon Linda and the drought in Central Vietnam in August 1998.
